Bill Brown leads the center’s efforts to partner with Hoosier communities to create solutions to challenges and opportunities common to rural communities everywhere. A native of Dale, Indiana, Bill has served rural Indiana for most of his life as a public-school teacher, a local business owner, and a public architect who designed schools and libraries. He later joined IU as the university director of sustainability and an instructor in the School of Public and Environmental Affairs. In these roles, he supported students as they engaged in impactful learning experiences through service to communities and organizations.
Bill holds a Bachelor of Science in education from Indiana University, and a Bachelor of Science in environmental design and a professional degree in architecture from Ball State University.
