Rebecca Skillman serves as chairman of the board of Radius Indiana, an economic development partnership encompassing eight counties in South Central Indiana: Crawford, Daviess, Dubois, Greene, Lawrence, Martin, Orange and Washington. From 2013 through 2016, Skillman served as President and CEO of the organization. Prior to joining Radius, Skillman served as Lt. Governor of the State of Indiana for eight years from 2005 to 2013.
As Indiana’s 49th Lt. Governor, Skillman held more legal duties than any other Lt. Governor in the country. Upon taking office in 2005, she also served as the Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development under the state’s Department of Agriculture and Office of Community and Rural Affairs. She managed five state agencies in total and administered more than $1 billion in programs. Additionally, she chaired the state’s Counter Terrorism and Security Council, the intergovernmental entity responsible for homeland security, and served as President of the Indiana Senate.
In 1992, she was elected to the Indiana State Senate, where she represented Lawrence, Monroe, Jackson, Washington, and Orange Counties. During her 12 years in the Senate, she led the charge to include the state’s small towns and rural communities in its economic development agenda.
She has been a director of Old National Bancorp since 2013 and its lead director since 2016. She serves as an independent director at Old National Bank.
Skillman is an alumna of Indiana Wesleyan University.
