Adolescence is a time of great change, and sometimes these changes include engagement in worrisome behaviors. Research has defined tangible early warning signs that, if recognized and addressed, can help youth-serving professionals steer an adolescent away from the risks that may lead to substance abuse. In this workshop, we will explore the prevalence of adolescent substance use and attendees will:
- build skills for recognizing signs of substance use behaviors among adolescents;
- learn strategies to respond to and support youth who may be using substances; and
- identify opportunities to work with families and other youth-serving professionals to prevent and interrupt adolescent substance abuse.
CEUs will be provided by the IU School of Public Health.
