“The pandemic offers us a unique opportunity to explore the positive benefits of investing our time and resources into locally grown food for more resilient communities,” said Jodee Ellett, who oversees community engagement at IU Sustainable Food Systems Science. “The virtual format will enable folks from all over Indiana to connect with others to learn, share and connect about community food issues in common.”

The Indiana Uplands Food Network is an active collaboration of residents, leaders, educators and food professionals that developed from the Local Food, Local Good study in 2019, which inventoried local food resources across the southwest Indiana region.
