Brian Blackwell

Brian, a lifelong resident of Southwest Central Indiana, retired from public service in 2017 from the Naval Surface Warfare Center where he held a series of senior leadership positions in engineering, corporate operations, and strategy. He has represented the Navy on a variety of regional technology, economic development, and regional development boards and advisory groups and was a member of the regional steering committee that sought and received a grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. to further economic prosperity and quality of place initiatives within the region.

Blackwell currently consults on technology and business strategy within the defense sector and teaches in the areas of leadership and organizational development.

He holds an M.P.A. from the O’Neill School of Public and Environment Affairs at Indiana University, an executive certificate in strategy and innovation from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a B.S. in mechanical engineering from General Motors Institute (now Kettering University).
