Lauren Robel is the Val Nolan Professor of Law at the Maurer School of Law, where she served as dean from 2002 to 2011 and as associate dean from 1991 to 2002. She joined the Law School faculty in 1985.
From 2012 through June 30, 2021, Robel served as executive vice president of Indiana University and provost of IU Bloomington. In 2013, she initiated a strategic planning process aimed at reimagining and invigorating academic programs across the Bloomington campus in anticipation of Indiana University’s Bicentennial in 2020. Her Bicentennial Strategic Plan for Indiana University Bloomington included ambitious initiatives for the Bloomington campus such as a new School of Art and Design, a new program in engineering, the integration of health sciences programs into a new on-campus Academic Health Center, and the creation of the Center for Rural Engagement.
She received her J.D. from the Maurer School of Law and her B.A. from Auburn University.
