Project UNITE

Project UNITE: Uncovering New Initiatives for Teen Empowerment

Project UNITE is a community-academic initiative designed to explore teen pregnancy and teen parenting in rural Indiana. The goal of the project is to work with rural counties in developing a multi-level teen pregnancy prevention intervention targeting youth, parents and caregivers, and the community. The project used a Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) approach to work collaboratively with rural Indiana communities to inform community-directed interventions.

The team paired the findings from Lawrence County and Orange County with five main strategies that have been successful in other rural communities to prevent teen pregnancy and support pregnant and parenting teens. These strategies are presented in brief video format.
