Engaging Communities to Move Toward the Elimination of Hepatitis C in Indiana

This study used a community based participatory research approach combined with either a mixed-methods stepped wedge design or a cross-sectional study design to better understand the variables associated with linking people who inject drugs (PWID) into the appropriate programs of care, linking those at most significant risk of hepatitis C (HCV) into prevention services, and exploring the social and structural barriers to health care services among PWID in south-central Indiana. The overarching aim of this work was to move forward with and understand how to expand community-based elimination efforts, including micro elimination strategies that will ultimately improve the lives of Hoosiers.
