Leveraging Data: Interactive Map and Metadata Index

This is a Center for Rural Engagement staff-initiated project with faculty affiliates to develop a publicly accessible Interactive Map of Center for Rural Engagement projects in order to share information with both IU researchers and community members. The map includes the following information: project name; names of involved faculty, staff, and students; project description; focus area; community partners; point of contact for project inquiries; and link to ScholarWorks records. The Metadata Index builds on the information found in the Interactive Map to connect current affiliates and potential collaborators to research data. A major aspect of this project is helping facilitate the uploading of research to ScholarWorks and DataCore, ensuring that proper metadata is documented to enable future use of raw data. Additionally, this project compiled more-than-metadata, which is understood as contextual information that explains why, how, where, and when research projects have been undertaken to give collaborators a clear picture of how they could build on previous work.
