Linton Farmers' Market Public Relations Campaign
In 2019 the Linton Farmers’ Market was the only farmers' market in Greene County and one of a few vendors where local, fresh foods could be purchased in Greene County. The Linton Farmers’ Market demonstrated its potential for growth by hosting more vendors and attracting more customers while remaining resilient in the face of challenges, including location changes and other barriers to access for members of the community. With federal programs like SNAP, WIC, and SFMNP, the Linton Farmers’ Market saw more opportunity to engage customers using SNAP and to engage volunteers and sponsors who could support the market with their time and financial resources. To better engage key audiences for the Linton Farmers' Market, such as SNAP recipients and potential volunteers and sponsors, Dr. Esi Thompson's students in Public Relations Campaigns created comprehensive public relations campaigns by conducting a situational analysis including primary and secondary research and offered practical recommendations for advancing the goals of the Linton Farmers' Market.
