Optimizing Community Engagement and Nursing Education through Health Screenings in Rural Communities

The Center for Rural Engagement partnered with the IU School of Nursing, parish nurses in Orange and Martin counties, and Southern Indiana Community Health Care to conduct free health clinics. The health clinics offer healthcare screenings to identify dyslipidemia, hypertension, prediabetes, obesity, and more. Kiosks include HDL, LDL, triglyceride, and fast glucose lab analyzers; blood pressure monitors; weight, height, waist circumference, and BMI measurements; pulse oximetry and heart rate; temperature; and naloxone kits.
