Plein Air Events
In partnership with Radius Indiana, this invitational plein air painting event supported the new Monon South Trail that will run across 57 miles of southern Indiana, connecting rural towns and regional destinations. The Monon South Trail is being constructed as one of the most significant recreational infrastructure investments in recent southern Indiana history, and it will bring ongoing change and renewal to the communities that live along its route. Through the creation of plein air paintings by IU student artists, Radius Indiana and the Center for Rural Engagement recorded the conditions of the communities over the years and artistically documented the evolution of the downtowns as they adapted to new visitors and the arrival of new businesses and building uses.
