Carnival of the Animals: Music Education
The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music developed an online presentation of “Carnival of the Animals” by Camille Saint-Saëns, a fun and engaging set of musical compositions that focus on different animals. Included in the project are curricular elements designed and narrated by Brent Gault, chair of the Jacobs School's Music Education Department. Dr. Gault is author of “Listen Up!: Fostering Musicianship Through Active Listening." Organized as four, 15-minute episodes, the music and subject areas are intended for use in elementary school general music classes. Produced by the Jacobs School of Music, musical participants faculty and students were supported by a talented team of audio engineers and videographers from the Jacobs School and Media School.
