Clarinet Chronicles: Repertoire as Representation

The Jacobs School of Music provides a rich array of K-12 music education resources that can be shared with community partners, including graduate student-led projects and research. A standout example is an innovative clarinet exercise book developed by doctoral candidate Anoushka Divekar. This resource transcends traditional musical exercises, featuring pedagogical pieces by contemporary composers from historically underrepresented backgrounds in classical music. Designed to inspire students, the book highlights the dynamic and evolving nature of the art form. The project concludes with a presentation and demonstration session, accompanied by a booklet that will be distributed to rural music educators.
