Sustaining Hoosier Communities: Project Sleepy - Huntingburg Hospitality Study

Project abstract

One of the community needs identified in the City of Huntingburg’s Comprehensive Plan is for a new hotel on the City’s north side. This is a prime location as it is near two event spaces, the Huntingburg Event and Convention Center and Venue 1408. The City owns property near both venues. Recently, the City has made major investments in public Quality of Life projects to attract more visitors to our historic downtown area.

The City is in need of market research that clearly identifies the obstacles and opportunities that exist in bringing such a project into reality. What are the basic needs of the hospitality industry when they do site selection? What are can the City do to create incentives to attract such an investment?
